Covid-19 Updates

This update is in response to Provincial Health Measures announcement about moving Toronto and Peel regions into lockdown on November 20, 2020.

Ontario government announced on November 20, 2020 that as of Monday at 12:01 a.m., Toronto and region of peel will enter lockdown to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
The guidelines that all post-secondary schools received is as follows: “Post-secondary schools open for virtual learning with some limited exceptions for training that can only be provided in- person, such as clinical training or training related to a trade”

Here is what this means for the Clarkridge Career Institute Students.

Virtual Classes: All virtual classes will continue being offered as per schedule. All students are expected to attend the virtual classes (online classes).

Lab classes: If you have already completed the theory component and now left with lab component, you are asked to attend the lab class sessions as per the schedule given by your instructor. Students are reminded that, if you are feeling unwell or experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms please do not come to the campus, instead self-isolate, and monitor your symptoms. Please see further instructions below.

PSW Placement: If you are a student that is going for PSW clinical placement at a facility, please continue to do so. Additionally, follow COVID-19 guidelines and health measures to protect yourself and protect others in the community.

If you are planning on come to Clarkridge Career Institute’s campus, please remember the following.

1. If you do not need to be on campus, please consider staying home.
2. Prior to coming to campus, take the COVID-19 self-assessment at https://covid- 19.ontario.ca/self-assessment/

• If you are recommended to self-isolate, please do so.
• If you are okay to come to campus, please send the result of your self-assessment to your respective administrative assistant at the campus.

3. Temperature readings are being taken of all students who are attending lab sessions using a temporal thermometer. If your body temperature reading is 100.4 °F or greater you will not be allowed to attend the session. Instead, you will be advised to go home avoiding public transport as much as possible, self-isolate, and monitor your symptoms.

4. Hygiene: Follow proper hand hygiene. Wash your hands using soap and water as frequently as possible. If hand washing is not an option, sanitize your hands using an alcohol-based sanitizer. This should include, at minimum:

  • When you arrive at school and before you go home
  • Before eating and drinking
  • After using the toilet
  • After sneezing or coughing into hands or tissue
  • Whenever hands are visibly dirty
  • Food should not be shared by students. Remain in your designated seat when eating
  • Sanitizer dispensers are placed at every entrance, hallways and in all classrooms at Clarkridge Career Institute for your convince.

5. Physical Distancing: Follow physical distancing protocol on campus at all times.

  • Face mask or covering is mandatory that fits snugly and covers the nose, mouth and chin is mandatory when on Clarkridge Career Institute’s campus
  • Maintain physical distancing (2 meters or 6 feet apart)
  • Avoid close greetings like hugs or handshakes
  • Kitchen is off limits to students
  • Leave the school premises immediately once session is finished
  • Read and follow all the safety signage to help stop the spread of COVID-19

Restricting Access to Clarkridge Career Institute
All staff and students who have symptoms of COVID-19 or have travelled outside Canada or been in close contact with a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19, or had been in close contact with a person who has travelled outside of Canada in the last 14 days must stay home and self-isolate in accordance with guidance from Public Safety Canada.

If you have any COVID- 19 symptoms, it would be highly suggested to go through COVID-19 testing. Testing location closest to you can be located using Ontario Testing Locations Finder. If you have positive COVID-19 test result, please contact the college as soon as possible at 416-635- 7190.

Please note: Face mask or covering is mandatory, without mask, you may not get entry.
