Course Description:
An 8-hour workshop that covers principles and factors affecting wound healing, pressure ulcer staging and treatment, an overview of wound care products and utilization. Emphasis will be on assessment and prevention.
Pre-requisites:
RN, RPN or Nursing Student
Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Perform pressure ulcer risk assessment on specific cases and recommend preventive and management techniques.
- Identify stages of pressure ulcer and wound classification.
- Identify different types of dressing and common applications.
- Apply universal precautions and practice wound dressing applications in a simulated laboratory setting.
