The Diploma in Sikh theology will be awarded to the students after completion of full-time study of two years along with required practical postings. Students enrolled in this diploma course will get an opportunity to study in Gurmukhi (Punjabi) language and understand the basics of Sikh theology. A curriculum is specially designed to prepare the students to work in different roles such as Spiritual Leader, Public Speaker, Spiritual Counsellor, Religious Preacher, Ragi, Pathi or Granthi.

ABOUT COURSE DIRECTOR

Ram Singh Kular, the Course Director is a Gold Medalist in Masters of Arts in Religious Studies and also has Masters of Arts (English), Masters of Arts (Punjabi), Masters in Philosophy (English Literature) and Post-graduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication to his credit.

He has been contributing to the academia for the last fifty years.After serving for twenty-two years from 1970 to 1992 as a Lecturer and Head of Department in English Literature, he served as a Principal at the Akal Degree College, Mastuana Sahib, Sangrur, India for about fifteen years from 1992 to 2007. Thereafter, he served as a Director at Akal Academy, Baru Sahib, India from 2007 to 2010.

Ram Singh Kular has chaired several prestigious positions. He has been Member, Board of Post Graduate Studies in English Literature at Panjab University, Chandigarh, India and at Punjab School Education Board, Mohali, India. He has been actively engaged as a member of Syndicate and as a Senate member at Punjabi University, Patiala, India. He has also been the President, Punjabi University Sports, Patiala, India and has authored number of books in English and Punjabi including Rabhi Rishman, which has been honoured with a State Award by the Punjab Government.

Owing to his rich experience and contribution towards academia, S. Ram Singh Kular has developed and enriched the curriculum of the present course to prepare the students not only for religious vocations to earn livelihood but also to develop and uplift them creating congruence between spiritual development and everyday moral conduct to lead their spiritual journey.

Learning Outcomes – Preparing Students for Religious Vocations and Spiritual Journey

In addition to preparing students for different religious vocations, this course also lays thrust on the personal and spiritual upliftment of an individual and spontaneously aims to develop the altruistic virtues of equality, generosity to less fortunate, service, truthfulness, self-control and alike among the students preparing them for their spiritual journey.
